Best Whole School Outstanding Coding Practices Award (Primary) – 3rd place
It is a great pleasure and a huge honour for us to announce that St Joseph Junior School Sliema placed as one of the top three “EmpowerEDUC Recognizing Excellence in EU Code Week 2023 finalists” for the category “Best Whole School Outstanding Coding Practices Award (Primary)”. We take this opportunity to thank and congratulate our ICT teacher, Ms Mary Jo Ellul for receiving this prestigious award for her hard work and commitment in teaching and embedding coding practices across the whole school. Well done!
Hop Scotch Coding – Integrating ICT and Literacy (Grade 1 – Grade 3)
The objective of this activity was to teach coding concepts in an engaging and enjoyable manner while simultaneously reinforcing literacy skills. By incorporating hands-on, unplugged activities, students learnt the fundamental principles of programming, such as sequencing, conditions, and loops. This outdoor game utilised flashcards to create interactive programmes, promoting problem-solving, critical thinking, and collaboration among students.
Coding Unplugged – Sequencing (Integrating ICT and PSHE) (Grade 4- Grade 6)
The objective of this activity was for the students to understand the significance of Pink October. To realize that it is a special time when people come together to be kind and help others who are not feeling well. It also helped them to realize that in coding programs, the sequence or order of instructions matters.
